Retail Van Support Volunteer

Warehouse Volunteer
Location: Furniture Warehouse & Donation Centre, Boston

Role Overview
As a Warehouse Volunteer, you will play a vital role in the sorting, organising, and management of stock and large goods within our Boston-based warehouse. Your support ensures that donated furniture and other items are processed efficiently, enabling our retail outlets to remain well-stocked and accessible to the community.

Our warehouse operates Monday to Saturday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM, and relies on the dedication of volunteers to keep it running smoothly.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sorting and organising donated stock, ensuring items are processed correctly.

  • Checking, assembling, and preparing furniture and large goods for display or delivery.

  • Assisting with the movement and storage of items to maximise space efficiency.

  • Working with the Warehouse Manager and other volunteers to maintain a safe, clean, and organised environment.

  • Engaging with customers and donors when necessary, providing a friendly and helpful service.
     

Who Can Volunteer?
Anyone! Whether you have prior warehouse experience or are completely new to the role, we welcome all volunteers. This opportunity is ideal for:

  • No previous experience required – training will be provided!
     

Time Commitment:
Flexible volunteering hours available, with opportunities Monday – Saturday, between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Volunteers can offer as much or as little time as they are able.

As a Volunteer Retail Van Support, you will play a key role in supporting our furniture collection and delivery service. Your help ensures that donations reach our stores efficiently and that purchased items are delivered to customers in a professional and friendly manner.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accompanying the retail van on furniture collections from customer addresses within the local area.

  • Assisting in the safe delivery of furniture items purchased from our retail outlets to customers.

  • Working alongside the Warehouse Manager and van driver to ensure smooth and efficient logistics.


Role Requirements:

  • A reasonable level of physical fitness is required, as lifting and carrying furniture is part of the role.

  • A friendly and polite approach when interacting with customers and colleagues.

  • A smart and professional appearance, with a strong sense of honesty and reliability.

  • The ability to work well as part of a team and follow instructions effectively.


Time Commitment:
This is a flexible role, and we welcome volunteers who can commit at least 3 hours per week, Monday to Saturday.
