Therapy Volunteers

Our Therapy service at The Butterfly Hospice Trust offers vital support to individuals and families in dealing with a life-limiting condition or bereavement. We are excited to offer new volunteering opportunities within this service, based on our Hospice grounds in Boston, at the Therapy Village. These roles are integral to the success of our therapy support groups, which provide emotional and practical support to those facing challenges in their lives.

As a Therapy Volunteer, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference by supporting group sessions and working closely with our Therapy Manager to develop and deliver impactful activities. Whether you are looking to gain experience in group facilitation, develop your communication and organisational skills or simply support our Charity and give back to your community, these roles offer a unique and rewarding experience.

Therapy Support Group Volunteer
Location: The Butterfly Hospice Trust, Rowan Way, Boston, PE21 9DH
Commitment Required: Maximum 6 hours per week - Must be available every Thursday from 10:00am to 12:30pm

Role Overview:
As a Therapy Support Group Volunteer, you will be responsible for managing support group events and working closely with the Therapy Services Manager to develop group activities and events. 

​

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Liaising with attendees and external speakers from relevant agencies and organisations.

  • Signposting attendees to other support options as needed.

  • Welcoming and inducting new members into the group.

  • Collecting and collating feedback reports, attendance data and reporting any issues to the Therapy Manager.

​

Role Requirements

  • Strong communication and organisational skills to manage groups and liaise with external providers.

  • IT proficiency for data collection and reporting.

  • The ability to support individuals during sensitive and emotional conversations.

  • A person-centred approach and an understanding of safeguarding issues (training will be provided).

​

This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a supportive and collaborative environment and is looking to make a positive impact in the lives of others.

Children’s Support Group Facilitator
Location: The Butterfly Hospice Trust, Rowan Way, Boston, PE21 9DH
Commitment Required: Maximum 6 hours per month - Must be available on the first Saturday of each month (to be confirmed)

 

Role Overview
As a Children’s Support Group Facilitator, you will assist the Group Leader and Therapy Services Manager in supervising group meetings, providing pastoral care for children and young teenagers. 

​

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising and managing resources for group activities.

  • Supporting the development of group activities based on specific needs and feedback.

  • Evaluating the success of activities and liaising with parents of group members.

  • Welcoming and inducting new members into the group.

  • Collecting and collating feedback reports, attendance data and reporting issues to the Group Leader or Therapy Services Manager.

Role Requirements

  • Have a creative approach to helping children and teenagers express emotions and feelings.

  • Be a good listener with strong observation skills.

  • Be patient and calm in emotive situations, with an ability to support individuals during sensitive conversations.

  • IT proficient and the ability to work well within a team.

  • Have an awareness of safeguarding issues (training will be provided) and a person-centred approach.

This role is ideal for someone who is compassionate, creative, and passionate about supporting young people.
