Light up a Life 2025

Join us for an evening of remembrance as the local community comes together to honour loved ones who are no longer with us at this time of year.

The main event will start at 4:00pm, but you are free to join us in the Tower Refectory from 2:30pm as our Charity Volunteers serve a selection of delicious homemade cakes and refreshments, as well as providing you with the opportunity to meet staff and nurses who will be part of the remembrance event.

Be part of our Wave of Light ceremony and the lighting of the Hospice Christmas Tree. During the wave of light, attendees will be invited to hang their dedications on the Christmas tree before the lights are dimmed and we join together in illuminating the darkness with our lanterns, taking a moment to reflect and remember. Followed by the lighting of the newly decorated Christmas Tree.

Our wave of light lanterns are available to pre-purchase online alongside your ticket for £12. We advise early purchase due to limited stock being available on the day. The Christmas dedications are available exclusively at the event.

These dedications will remain on the tree until the 12th night, you are free to collect them anytime from the tree which will remain in the stump. Those left beyond this time will be returned to the Hospice and buried within the Hospice grounds.

This year, we are also introducing a Memorial Slideshow, where you can submit a photo and dedication to your loved ones which will be on display throughout the event (£2 donation) as well as the option to add their name to our brand-new Book of Remembrance, where a loved one’s name can be added (£1 donation). The last date for submitting your photo and/or name is Friday 28th November 2025, you will receive information on how to do this following your booking.

The event brings together the powerful vocals from the Coastal Community Choir, candle-lit reflections and an opportunity to add in-memory decorations to the Christmas tree as we look towards the end of the year and the beginning of a new one. All proceeds go towards supporting hospice care in our community.
