As 2024 marks the Butterfly Hospice Trust's 10th anniversary, we would like to invite you to be a part of our celebratory campaign, A Decade of Care. Over the past ten years, we've dedicated ourselves to providing support and care to local individuals and their families during their most challenging times. This year, as we reflect on our journey, we're embarking on a unique initiative to remember those we've cared for and to pave the way for the future.

Introducing Butterflies in Bloom.

At the heart of our 10th-anniversary celebrations is the launch of our Butterflies in Bloom art installation, set within the surroundings of our Memory Garden. This installation seeks to highlight our connection with nature and the transformative journey of care we've embarked on over the past 10 years.

​

Butterflies in Bloom features a collection of unique handcrafted metal butterflies, each one symbolising beautiful moments we share and have shared with those that we hold dear. For a contribution of £25, you can purchase one of these butterflies, with the option to personalise it for an additional £5. This personalisation includes an engraved tag, making each butterfly a lasting tribute to a loved one or a special message of hope and support for our Charity.

These butterflies will not only adorn our Memory Garden for the year 2024 but also serve as a reminder of lives touched and memories cherished thanks to your generosity. At the year's end, you will have the choice to collect your butterfly, allowing it to continue spreading its message of love and remembrance in your own space, or to leave it as a permanent fixture in our garden, forever a part of the Butterfly Hospice.

Each butterfly purchased becomes a vital contribution towards our ambitious goal of raising £100,000 during our 10th year. These funds are earmarked for projects both big and small, all aimed at directly enhancing the patient experience and ensuring the continuation of our services. Your support will help us continue making every moment count for those in our care.

Please note, the butterflies are made from mild steel and will eventually patina over time if placed outdoors. 

They have been given a coat of industrial-strength lacquer, which has been baked onto them in a powder-coating oven. 
The lacquer will slow down the patina, but we always advise people to spray the butterflies with a spray such as WD40 if placing these outside – a spray over when they first go outside and then, every so often if you’d like to.

 
This additional coating will then ensure they remain shiny for a lot longer since it gives the butterflies an extra layer of protection against the British weather.
